The new normal

Uncertainty is the new normal

In mission-driven work, fear shows up everywhere
  • Funding that can disappear with one grant decision or one election
  • Teams asked to do more for the same communities with fewer people
  • Policy and regulations changing faster than programs can adjust
  • The weight of the students and families counting on the work
  • Leaders carrying payroll, mission and their own family at the same time

You can't control all of it.

You can change what fear does to your people.

Written fears from nonprofit and education teams

What nonprofit and education teams wrote on their cards

These are real cards from nonprofit, agency and education company rooms, shared without names. Your people are carrying some of these too.

Meet Darryl

hey, I'mDarryl!

Before I ever stood on a stage, I was a technology consultant for banks. I left that career to work with students, and along the way I started asking the room some version of the question: what do you fear? Their answers built the framework I use today.

Over ten years, the rooms grew to include the adults around those students: the educators, the staff, and the nonprofits, companies and agencies that hold it all together. Their cards taught me something. The mission doesn't make the fear go away. It just gives you a bigger reason to keep moving through it.

The Fearless Experience

What the
experience looks like

This isn't a sit-and-listen keynote. Here's how it works, from the weeks before to the days after.

01
SAMPLE PRE-EVENT VIDEO

Before the day

Darryl sends a pre-event video, and your people have the option to share some of their challenges beforehand.

02
energy & interactive

In the room

From the walk-on song to the fear cards to the fire pit, everyone takes part. Nobody just sits and listens.

Tools they can use

Simple steps your people can use with their team, with the community they serve or at home the next day, not just a good feeling.

Fear(less) band

After they leave

Everyone leaves with a Fear(less) band and one next step, so the conversation keeps going across your organization.

The keynote

Fearful to fearing less

This keynote gives your people real stories, a room that's up and moving, and a simple way to keep going when fear, change and uncertainty show up.

Your people will leave able to
1
Name what they're carrying. Put words to the fear, worry or stress behind the hard days.
2
Sort what's theirs to control. Let go of what isn't and choose one small next step.
3
Bounce back from setbacks. Give themselves, and the people around them, room to be human.
4
Keep the conversation going. Use the same simple language with their team and with the community they serve.
Built for your biggest days

Booking FAQ

Don't see your question? Call 980-217-2441 or email hello@fearlessinside.com.

For your organization
We're not a school. Does this still fit?+

Yes. Darryl speaks to nonprofits, education companies and state and county agencies, and a lot of the people in those rooms used to be teachers. The fears aren't that different.

Can the keynote tie into our mission or strategic plan?+

Yes. On a short planning call we talk about your mission, your goals for the year and what your team is facing, and Darryl works them into the day.

We have remote staff. Can they join?+

Yes. Darryl has done hybrid rooms and fully virtual keynotes. In person is best for the fire pit, but the fear cards work either way.

Planning the day
How far ahead do organizations usually book?+

Most retreats and conferences book 3 to 9 months out. If your date is sooner, ask anyway.

Can we add a workshop for our leadership team?+

Yes. The Fearing Less in Action workshop runs 45 to 75 minutes and works well as a leadership session the same day.

What do you need from us before the day?+

A date, a room and a point person. We send a short link so your people can share their fears anonymously ahead of time.
