Reading the Room's Fears Out Loud
Before an event, people write down what they fear. During the keynote, Darryl reads some of them out loud, with no names attached.
In this short clip you hear a fear of letting family down, a fear of stepping into a bigger leadership role, and one from a student that makes the whole room laugh. When people hear their own fear read out loud, they learn they are not the only one.

0:00 "I fear that I will fail myself and my family." Sometimes we don't make those jumps. Maybe we don't push as hard as we can in our career in different places because we're afraid to fail ourselves and maybe our family.
0:11 "Imposter syndrome. I'm scared of going into a bigger leadership role based on who I am, and I think of the mistakes that I've made and why I shouldn't be in this role." But sometimes you don't step up because you're thinking about some of those past mistakes you might have made.
0:27 And last but not least, a funny one I got from a student: "I only fear Jesus and my mama." Which is hilarious. So I used to stop with reading these, and then I thought, y'all would probably like to hear some of the fears of your peers in the room.
